Callelongue : the first creek to discover in Marseille

Fishing port, the calanque of Callelongue is an emblematic place of Marseille. Became a high place of the Marseille gastronomy, Callelongue is located at the end of a chaotic road named "the world's end road".
In that calanque begin a famous hiking trail named GR 98 from which experienced hikers and climbers can traverse the whole massif.

Located at the end of Marseille (8th arrondissement of Marseille) in the Massif Marseilleveyre after the famous district of Goudes and is the beginning of the calanques between Marseille and Cassis.
Named in Provencal "cala lònga", Callelongue meaning "big creek".
Once arrived in this small cove with a small port, you can't go further. The small cabanas set overlooking the small harbor further strengthen the authentic side of this beautiful cove Marseille.

The “telescaphe”, an old and unusual way to discover the seabed

In 1967, the telescaphe was created in the calanque of Callelongue. This machine which is a mix between a cable car and a spacesuit allowed to see the seabed from the callelongue to the island of Maïre.
After one year the telescaphe was unfortunately abandoned but now tourists and curious people can see the remains of the craft and its mechanism.
